A spear would be thrown with the use of the spear thrower through the overhand movement of the upper arm and wrist. \n\nWho by and why them? \nInuit people and Native Americans both used the spear thrower to discharge harpoons and fish spears. Spear throwers have been used since prehistoric times for all types of hunting, from mammoths to fish.  The tool was probably introduced to Native Americans through migrations of Asian dwelling people across the Bering land bridge from Siberia to Alaska during the last Ice Age."
