Michelle Davis

Michelle Davis has been Deputy Aquarium Curator at the Horniman since February 2014.
She maintains the Aquarium's live specimens and displays and contributes to behind-the-scenes research and breeding programmes. Her previous roles include:
  • hatchery assistant for the Tropical Marine Centre, breeding clownfish and seahorses
  • animal keeper at the Skegness Natureland seal sanctuary, working in the aquarium, pets’ corner and with the rescued Grey and Common seal pups and resident penguins
  • aquarist at London Aquarium working with a wide range of species, during which Michelle gained her dive master qualification, allowing her to scuba dive in the large display tanks
  • senior keeper at the ZSL London Zoo aquarium, home to one of the largest collections of coral in the UK, working predominantly on the coral reef displays
Michelle holds a BSc (Hons) in Marine & Fresh Water Biology, and her interests include jellyfish, tropical marine fish breeding and conservation issues. In her spare time she loves to travel, scuba dive and attend art classes.
