The Monkey and the Crab

  • Times: 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3pm
  • Location: Hands on Base

Join us for a traditional heart-warming tale from Japan, with a host of funny characters, performed with traditional Japanese movement and storytelling.

Performed by You-Ri Yamanaka.

This performance was first commissioned by the V&A Museum as part of the V&A Families Programme.

Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes. Limited spaces. Some queuing may be necessary.

Recommended for ages 3+ but open to all, and playscheme friendly. Free.

Wonderful Animations

  • Times: 10am – 4 pm  
  • Location: Music Gallery Performance Space

Drop in to watch some short animations inspired by the Horniman and our new exhibition Brick Wonders.

The animations have been created by second year students on the London College of Communication’s BA Animation course.   

Everyone welcome - just drop in. Suitable for all ages and playscheme friendly. Free.

We’re Going on an Egg Hunt Trail

  • Times: 10.30am - 12.30pm and 1pm - 3pm
  • Location: Start in The Studio

The eggs on our trail haven't been laid by hens (and aren't made from chocolate!) but you can explore our galleries and discover some of our amazing eggs, some laid by animals and some created by people.

Pick up a trail in The Studio and see how many of the eggs you can find.

Suitable for all ages and playscheme friendly. Free.

Egg Explorers

  • Times: 11am, 12.15pm, 2pm and 3.15pm
  • Location: Gardens Pavilion

Do you think just hens lay eggs? Come along to one of our fun sessions and find out which animals lay eggs and which don’t. You’ll get up close to some of the egg-cellent egg laying animals from our collections.

Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes. Limited spaces. Some queuing may be necessary.
