No advance booking, just turn up on the day. Queuing may be necessary during busy periods.

About this event

Join us for a day celebrating bees and find out how important they are to us. We'll have lots of family-friendly bee activities that will get you outdoors exploring our Gardens. 

Wonder-filled films

  • Times: 10am – 4.30pm   
  • Location: In the room at the back of the Music Gallery, through the glass door                                                                                         

Drop in to watch short Horniman-inspired animations created by students from the London College of Communication,

Free. Playscheme friendly. Suitable for all ages.

Bee Talks with Richard ‘Bugman’ Jones 

  • Times: 10.45am and 11.45am, then drop by anytime between 1.30pm – 3.30pm
  • Location: Sunken Garden 

Join insect expert Richard ‘Bugman’ Jones for family-friendly talks about the fascinating lives of bees.

Free. Playscheme friendly. Suitable for ages 3+.

Bee Flower Flag Trail

  • Times: 10.30am – 3.30pm
  • Location: Nature Base

Drop by our Nature Base to see our Bees. Pick up a Bee Flower trail and then head out into the Gardens to see if you can spot any of the flowers that bees like to visit.

Meet roving bee characters played by students from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Join them for stories, songs and dances about why are bees so special and need our care.
