Join in the Easter fun at the Horniman!

Enjoy the Easter weekend at the Horniman with the whole family. Go on our Easter trail, create something crafty in our workshops and dare to venture through the rabbit hole for a special storytelling performance inspired by The Hen That Laid The Golden Egg.

The Hen That Laid The Golden Eggs Storytelling

Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April

  • Times: 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
  • Location: Hands on Base

Each performance lasts 30 minutes.

£5 per child, £2.50 per adult (max two adults per child)

In this adaptation of the classic Aesop's fable, we meet a man who has the most wonderful hen you can imagine, one which lays golden eggs! Soon the man may become very greedy indeed!

With song and puppetry by Sandal Sticks Theatre. 

Suitable for families with children aged 3+

Easter Trails

Saturday and Sunday

  • Times: 10.30am - 4.30pm
  • Location: Main Museum entrance

£1 per trail from the Easter Desk outside the main Museum entrance.

Solve the clues on the Easter trail and collect your prize!

Animal Cave with Wild Fangs

Saturday and Sunday

  • Times: 10.30am - 1pm and 2pm - 4.00pm
  • Location: Pavilion 

£3 per person

Say hello to Zebedee our 7ft Boa Constrictor and an African Bull Frog! Handle Giant African Land Snails, Stick Insects and a bearded Water Dragon, plus discover how they grow by spotting their babies and eggs!

Not recommended for under 3s. All children must be accompanied by an adult

Lindy hopping dance workshops

Saturday and Sunday - drop-in workshop for all ages

  • Times: 12pm, 1pm and 2pm
  • Location: Bandstand Terrace

Hop like the Easter bunny and join us for some lindy hopping dance classes and performance on the Horniman Bandstand.

Farmers' Market 

Saturday only

Our weekly Farmers' Market has extended opening hours, selling locally sourced, locally sold vegetables, meat, bread, flowers, hot food and much more.

Bandstand Terrace

Make and Take: family craft activity

Saturday and Sunday

Decorate your own wooden house and grow your own edible cress garden.
