Enjoy the Easter weekend at the Horniman with the whole family. Go on our Easter trail, create something crafty in our workshops, have your face painted and join in family activities across the Gardens.

'The Ugly Duckling' Storytelling Performances by Sandal Sticks Theatre

Saturday and Sunday - SOLD OUT

11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm

£5 per child, £1 per adult

Join us in the Hands on Base to meet the most unlikely duckling hero and hear the story of the duck who was different. This much loved classic tale has been adapted into an interactive storytelling performance for the Horniman by Sandal Sticks Theatre. Featuring song and puppetry, The Ugly Duckling is a heart-warming tale for all the family.

Both children and adults require a ticket. Due to limited capacity, there is a maximum of two adults per child. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Advance booking recommended. Saturday tickets have now sold out.

Please be aware that tickets cannot be exchanged for different time slots.

Animal Corner with Wild Fangs

£3 per person

Pop by the Pavillion to say hello to Zebedee our 7ft Boa Constrictor and Santi our fury Chinchilla! Handle Giant African Land Snails, Stick Insects and a bearded Water Dragon, plus discover how they grow by spotting their babies and eggs! Not recommended for under 3s. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Lindy Hopping Dance Workshops

Saturday and Sunday

12pm, 1pm, 2pm


Hop around the Bandstand like the Easter bunny and join us for some lindy hopping dance classes and performances on the Horniman Bandstand. Suitable for all ages.

Make and Take

Saturday and Sunday

10.30am - 4.30pm

£5 per person

Join us in Make and Take for some fun craft activity to celebrate Spring. Have fun decorating a character terracotta plant pot and planter, then take it home and grow something lovely.

Arts and Crafts Market

Discover handmade products by local designers and makers in the Arts and Crafts market taking place in the Conservatory.

Follow clues around the Gardens and the Museum on the Easter trail and collect your prize! Suitable for families with children ages 3+
