About this event

On Thursday afternoons during term time, the Horniman will become an age-friendly space for adults to socialise. Each week will include a range of music-based activities for all abilities as well as a variety of tours, demonstrations and information stalls across the whole Museum and Gardens.

Come along for the whole afternoon or just pick and choose what is of interest.

Key activities

  • 2.30–3.15pm: Hands on Music Session: Rhythms of the World
  • 3.30–4pm: Hear it Live! (musical performance)
  • 4.15–5.15pm: The Aftershow (music appreciation)


10 October: Mental Health Awareness Day - Join Mental health and Arts Charity, Arts Network for a creative session which will introduce you to a number of different mediums, including soft pastels, charcoal and collage. Inspired by the Horniman Museum and Gardens, you will be able to draw items in their collection.

17 October: International Swordfish Day -  Help us celebrate International Sawfish Day on the 17 October. Come and meet our Deputy Keeper of Natural History, Dr Emma Nicholls, to hear all about sawfish. You can ask her questions, and even handle a specimen from the historical collection.
