Davis, Edward Henry Meggs


Edward Henry Meggs Davis acquired artefacts as the commander of HMS Royalist between 1889 and 1903, in the course of duties enforcing British authority on tours of Solomon Islands and Micronesia. He sold a collection of 700 items to Edward Gerrard for resale. For details of some of Davis’s acquisitions from the New Georgia group, see Waite and Burt , 2013.
