Nature Base

Become a nature explorer and discover how to find and identify wildlife living in and around our city, while meeting some animals who live right here in the Museum.

Visit the Nature Base and see hundreds of live honey bees in their special hive. You can also meet Britain’s smallest rodent, the harvest mouse.

Look up close at the wings of insects using our video-microscope, discover what a mole’s fur feels like and listen to the calls that animals make at night.

There are lots of things to see, hear and do in Nature Base.

Remember: be gentle and respectful when you handle Museum objects as well as when you are exploring wildlife outside.

Saw the cutest little harvest mice yesterday at the Horniman.
