Carved bamboo box. Tubular container made of a section of bamboo, with a stopper of a second section of bamboo carved so that half of it fits inside. The stopper has a curvilinear carved top edge. The container has incised and blackened decoration on the upper half, consisting of two bands of natural coloured discs on an incised blackened background at either side of a band of curvilinear decoration, natural on black. The upper part of the container is bound with twined strips of brown and orange vegetable fibre. Label: one brown handwritten label. Collector's label reads: '39. Kyan bamboo box. Rejang River Sarawak' and on reverse 'Coll. E. Bartlett.'
