textile (function unknown); textile

Rectangular piece of cotton textile with a delicate embroidered border on all four sides. Possibly the front of a divan cushion or a mirror cover. The decoration consists of a single repeating motif, of a stylized plant with a brown stem and, seemingly, two species of flower and two types of leaf. The flowers are worked in cream and two tones of pink silk (?) threads. The smaller flower is worked in pulled thread work. The green leaves also have metal-wrapped thread. These motifs are framed by a regular, undulating brown line.
