textile; samples (textileworking: dyeing & printing)

Rectangular tabby-woven linen sample decorated with a white weft-ikat ('e-gasuri' or 'yokogasuri') motif on a blue ground. It depicts a crane-like bird in flight above what might be the top of a pine tree. The textile appears to have been cut at both longer sides. Toward the left bottom corner appear to be 3 small repairs. The rectangle has been adhered to a piece of cream card covered in black paper on the front.
