Trough zither. The instrument consists of a wide shallow trough with a handle at each end to give seven strings. Small holes are drilled into the side walls. A loop of string is threaded through the base. A paper label stuck onto the base reads: A / Musical / instrument / Central Africa. D. Picton Jones' Collection.
