There will be tree works in the Gardens this week – please follow signs on site. The lift will be out of service until Friday 28 June while we work on a replacement.
Death mask made of clay, comprising a modelled head with head-dress, earrings, necklace, and possible cape. The arm and remainder of the torso are detached and missing. It is made from buff clay, with a small metal ring for suspension attached to a piece of hessian glued to the back of the head.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database. Some of this is incomplete and there may be errors. This part of the website is also still under construction, so there may be some fields repeated or incorrectly formatted information.
