茶碗, chawan/te-oan. Small tea bowl with curved sides, low foot and slightly recessed base. The body is a coarse, dark brown stoneware. The bowl is covered with a brown iron glaze, opaque and medium lustre, which ends above the foot. Tea bowls of this type were made in Fujian province of South China from the 10th - 14th century.
