jar (food processing & storage)

Round brass pot with relief decoration and a hollow foot and lid. Above a central band is a row of triangles. The upper triangles have floral motifs in them enclosed by a row of dots. A band above the triangles also contains floral and vegetal motifs, including a 6-petalled flower. This band appears to have been applied in sections. The lower part is decorated with 6 semicircles, 3 filled with motifs alternating with 3 with just the outer bands. The foot laos has a band of vegetal decoration. The lid has an 11-petalled flower at the centre with a knob in the middle of it and is surrounded by floral decoration and two circular bands of dots and semi-circles. The whole pot appears to have been constructed from a number of separate cast pieces.
