Palm wine vessel, kitang, made of a section of bamboo. The base of the container is black; after it reaches the next nodule in the bamboo it is coloured red, this section forming the major portion of the container. A dark red band band of bamboo reinforces the neck of the container, which has been finished off with a concave inward-facing rim. There is a section of dark string, made from ijuk fibres, attached to the base section of the bamboo which is then wound six times around the upper part of the red section. The lid is a wooden plug with a round top with two projections from it, to either side. One ends in a cylindrical spout with a small hole through it; the other, the handle, curves up to end in a square section, and has a decorative element underneath with a small section of plant fibre through a hole beneath the decorative element.
