axe (general & multipurpose); ceremonial weapon

Ceremonial axe, beaten brass on a wood shaft; head in the shape of a crescent two birds standing on a strut extending from the centre of this to the open mouth of an animal's head on the shaft. Coils of wire fixed to the head, and a bulb on a short stem. Coil of wire inset into the wood shaft, extending from the head to a brass finial at the other end. Crescent, straight line and stipple decoration beaten onto the surface of the brass.
