Pair of ear plugs from the Wai Wai people of Guyana. The face of the plugs is decorated with pieces of freshwater mussel shells and yellow feathers (from Toucan breast). Beeswax holds the shells, the pieces of wood and the feathers together. The objects are tied together by a string made from vegetable fibre.
