Necklace made of three rings of giraffe hair, grass and beads, coiled with leather at the top and bound together with strips of goat skin. The grass is collected by women or young husbands when it is at its tallest, and has gone brown. It is then cut with a knife and immersed in a container full of mud for four to five days to blacken the grasses. The mud is not cotton soil, but a black mud that is often to be found in very wet places where there is stagnant water and mosquitoes.
Women might make themselves another ring and tie it onto the necklace with goat leather. Extra lengths of goat skin are left at the sides to tie on the next layer. These necklaces are often made with buffaloe or giraffe hair. They are worn every day and especially at ceremonies such as weddings. This one made at Naibor - Keju by married women.
