Poisonous? arrow with a wooden shaft, notched and top end bound with sinew? Attached triangular iron arrow head with two integral side barbs. Arrowhead shaft covered bound with vegetal fibre and covered with resin - possibly posionous?

This beautifully decorated quiver, with its complement of four poisoned arrows, may be a type used by Hausa hunters. Hunting could be a dangerous pursuit and the decorative carrying strap of the quiver may include protective designs intended to ward off bad luck.
