loincloth

Rectangular tabby-woven loincloth decorated in multicoloured ikat and solid-coloured stripes. The end of one of the shorter sides of the textile consists of a tapestry-woven band containing diamond and triangular patterns. The ends of the warp form fringing at both short sides. The main panel contains alternating wider curvilinear patterned, and narrower undulating line patterned warp ikat stripes in cream and light brown. They are separated and framed by sets of solidly coloured stripes in cream, light brown, yellow, red, orange and blue. Along both longer sides is an additional narrow ikat stripe, followed by a wider set of stripes in blue, cream, light brown and yellow.
