Rectangular cotton sample with batik decoration consisting of cream and brown outlines or motifs on a dark blue ground. The textile is seemingly from a larger piece as three sides have hems of varying widths, and the fourth is unfinished. Short cream undulating lines representing Mount Meru divide the ground into areas containing various 'semen' motifs. One repeated motif contains an inverted triangle with a bird or wing motif above surrounded by foliate/flame-like patterns. Above this is a motif with 3 linked leaf/flame-like shapes below a pattern resembling a roof. In a section to either side at the level of the triangle are bird motifs facing opposite ways (phoenix or possibly Garuda ?). The remainder of the ground is filled with smaller bird, foliate and other motifs.
