samples (textileworking: dyeing & printing)

Rectangular sample of twill-woven cotton textile decorated with tie-dyeing. It has been sewn together from 2 pieces to create a greater width. The 2 shorter sides have been left unfinished. The woven pattern consists of a grid created by stripes double the width of the bands, overlaid with narrow bands and stripes of equal width. The resist pattern consists of bands of white vertical ovoids on a brown ground. Darker coloured stripes show the folding pattern.
