Fish hook for catching larger predatory pelagic fish constructed from a bent piece of hardwood notched at the end of the shank with a tight binding of hara keke fibres connecting it to its line. The tip of the fore shaft is split and Western nail has been inserted into this split and beaten around into a hook. This has been lashed together with a coil of the same fibre
