hanging (art); textile

Rectangular hanging in the form of a woven cotton textile decorated with wax resist imagery. The textile has selvedges on the 2 shorter sides, and is unfinished at the others. The decoration consists of a white scalloped frame surrounding a large figure standing on its hands with its legs apparently up in the air, and its head twisted back as if to look over its shoulder. This seems to be supported by 3 smaller figures. On the left-hand side a fourth small figure is visible behind one of these inside a rectangular enclosure (possibly a dooway?). The outer of the double outlines, and the larger areas have remained white against the blue-black ground.
