apron; textile

Cotton altar cloth or apron, wider than it is long. Most is made from a black twill ground embroidered with linked floral-like motifs, much just in outline, using poor quality multi-coloured cottons. Sequins are sewn on top. In the centre of this section is a much bolder and larger floral image, created by the same cottons being embroidered more closely together. This image is framed on three sides with an applied red and lime green cotton strip, which form a linked zig zag pattern. Above this is a strip of cotton printed with white daisy-like flowers on an orange ground. This top section has a solid red fabric and two narrow ties. It is lined with different cotton prints pieced together. [Textile]
