Wooden standing figure from West Ghana, Africa, date unknown. The figure shows a man standing with arms outstretched. One hand is turned palm upwards and figures outstretched, the other hand is intended to hold a sword (object no. 1997.37.2) in the upright position. A wooden serpent is draped around the shoulders of the figure, and extends to the waist. The figure has stylised facial features with the eyes and eye brows and hair painted in black. Further lines, in black paint, run diagonally down each cheek. The figure is predominantly covered with white paint aside from the shoes, serpent, hair, and the facial features previously listed
