Woman’s robe, Bukhara. Cloth of fine black lines on a grey ground with dark green and black facings down the front-central opening and hem which have an inner border of black stitching in a motif of two diagonal ‘ladders’ and diamonds in open stitching. On the front there are two decorative panels: elongated ovals with similar black borders as the facings, each oval enclosing a band/panel of dense green and black silk with a long fringe at top and bottom. The robe is lined with two ikat panels: one in red, pink and orange; the other in red, grey, green and black. The robe has two long tapered sleeves joined behind. A large robe, bought in the Summer Palace, Bukhara. It shows few signs of use but may be of some age, perhaps 1970s -1980s.
