Saddle blanket in ‘Terme’ weave. The front straight edge is bound with a black cotton strip; the back with a narrower strip. Inside these is a band of red and white, with a pattern of white diamonds, this is alongside a narrow border in black and white. The sides and back have yellow plaited tassels 92 strands) drawn from a strip of braid – yellow with white chevrons. The main body consists of six panels of raised and wrapped woven cloth in panels of blue and dark pink wool with rams’ horns motifs and diamonds and separated by bands of red and black and white weaving. The two second panels (working inwards) have two pendant tassels in blue and red on one side, and in white and red on the other, suspending from a red and yellow cord. Inside is a strip of synthetic fabric with blue and white flowers on a purple and white ground. Saddle blanket used at the first ‘Manas’ festival after Independence in 1991.
