A brass Fon sculpture. Figure one, female, with stylised feather headdress and suspended, black glass bead earrings, wearing a decorated skirt and two straps crisscrossing her torso, stands balanced on two legs holding an axe-like implement in her right hand, a torch-like object in her left hand and with a decorated cobra balanced against the nape of her neck across her shoulders. Behind her stands a second figure, male, wearing patterned shorts, balanced on two legs with a large drum suspended by a wire band from around his neck, hands positioned as if about to start playing. The two forward-facing figures are attached by four screws to a thin, rectangular wooden platform, the four edges scored with a decorative line. Originally made by Brass Casters' Guild in Benin Republic, purchased from junk shop in England..
