headscarf

Woman’s headscarf. A square of dark green cloth shot through with gold thread stitching. Decorated with two overlain squares: the larger square is white and filled with arabesques of flower motifs in pink, purple, yellow and green; the smaller central square is green with a posy of pink and purple flowers embroidered in each corner. The outer border of each square is a thin frame of pink and purple flowers on a white ground with thin black edging. The motif of two overlain squares is much like 1999.74. The flowers and foliage style has a Russian impression; this cloth was probably made in Russia and exported for sale in Central Asia.
