puppet container

Bag for two puppets: Abdullah (2001.206.1) and Jamila (2001.206.2). Bag is in the form of a 'saddlebag' or 'pannier' and is made of dark blue cloth. The pouches are decorated on the outer surface with panels of overlapping traingles of folded cloth in cream, brown, red, blue, green and black in a tile pattern or patchwork. The bag is edged with a strip of grey cloth.

The bag, with the puppets, was bought from Master Matyakub's shop near the Ark in Khiva.
