mask (dance & live theatre)

Tolai mask. Carved wooden mask of a face with a knotted vegetable fibre 'beard'. It is covered with red/pink pigment at the bottom of thw face, two blue lines across the face above and below the mouth, with an area around eyes in mauve/purple. The remainder is painted with terracotta coloured pigment. The top is unpainted, with evenly spaced holes.

Collection Information

These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
