Viola d'amore. The one piece back is inlaid with the resurrection of Christ, his halo of brass, the table with flame shaped sound holes and an inset ivory or bone carved and pierced rose beneath the fingerboard and tailpiece one of sycamore inlaid with ebony scroll-work. There are 6 playing and 6 sympathetic strings. The top of the fingerboard has a carved head of a patriarch.
