hats (clothing: headwear); textile

Tibetan hat made from blue, fulled, textile, probably woollen. This has been decorated with applied gold-coloured braids, yellow and gold-coloured brocade, and fur. The inside of the ear-, front-, and back flap has been lined with blue silk satin. The brocade contains a repeat Chinese character, as well as 2 floral motifs. The centre of the crown is decorated with a circular section of the brocade. This is framed by a waved braid, and a plain braid. The 2 plain braids above the applied brocade band frame another waved braid. The edges of the flaps have been trimmed with dark brown fur.
