Wooden carving (ebony?). Purchased in Blantyre City, Malawi in the 1960's. A figure of a standing women has been carved out of ebony. The figure is not free standing and is still attached to the original rough ebony wood. The female figure is highly polished and stained a very dark brown. The woman carries a basket in her hand and a object in the other hand. The female has short hair, wears a dress and is bare footed.
