Changsha ware ewer with a four-lobed body, board neck and rim turned in. Stands on a bevelled foot with flat base, a short faceted spout attached on shoulder, a grooved strap handle rising from neck and down to shoulder. Beige stoneware covered with thin straw glaze, with the foot and base unglazed. Painted in underglaze brown and green pigment on one side of the body with butterfly, bird and foliate design.
