Mask of Hanuman from the wayang wong tradition. The wooden part of the mask is painted white, the red gums surrounded by a band of black with hairs indicated in white curled lines against the black. A black curved band to either side of the face, with similar white lines. Teeth painted white, prominent canines in lower jaw, and large but less prominent in upper jaw. Bulging eyes with rings of yellow and orange, black at the front. The white ears with black painted curled lines on them have gold painted decorative extensions below. Above the horns, the bump betwen the eyes and the eye sockets themselves, gold jewelled embellishments have been fixed. Behind the whole mask is a leather surround painted red and decorated with a similarly shaped piece of gold painted leather into which has been carved a delicate pattern and onto which are fixed pieces of mirror glass at various points.
