Shadow puppet of Hanoman, made of carved and painted leather. His body is painted white and his hair is in the apit urang (pinching shrimp) style. His features are those of a monkey, with small round eyes and teeth visible. In the Ramayana epic, Hanuman is Lord of the monkeys, and leads his army against the wicked Rawana, who abducted King Rama's beautiful wife, Sita. After a long and terrible war, he defeats and kills Rawana.
