sling (general & multipurpose)

Wichi-wichi sling. Possibly early 1900s - note softer dye colours and fineness of braiding. Refurbished with aniline dyed alpaca yarn. Achiri province, Pacajes, Dept of La Paz. The sling would have carried a fruit weight in the enclosed cradle to help them swing. See similar example illustrated in Adele Cahlander, 'Sling braiding of the Andes'
