Woman's phasin, cotton, Hot Samaung District, Chiang Mai Province. This example is for a well-off village woman going to a ceremony, the same structure as silk examples for more wealthy women, but in cotton and with correspondingly coarse weaving. Slightly faded in parts. Central panel and hem border are of handspun cotton, but the waistband is machine-spun, and the panel itself may have been bought in the market.
