
Wayang wong mask, tapel, depicting Delem. Mask carved from pule wood, with tiny nose above projecting mouth with downward curving upper lip. Mouth open with one tooth to each side; aperture below large round eyes. Face painted brown with black, red, gold and white details. A lotus shaped ear ring in each earlobe. Facial hair indicated through five raised mounds along jaw line painted with black and gold swirls, and below lower lip in a row in black and gold painted motifs. Headdress of carved and painted leather with coronet. Projection at rear, which terminates in an orb painted black with a circle of gold motifs, is made of wood, while the remainder of the skull cap is covered in red velvet with decorative elements in carved and gilded leather. Pompom of red wool fixed to either side of the mask above the ears. Hook for hanging at top front behind coronet. Signed by the maker on the inside.
