
Long rectangular tabby handspun handwoven cotton blanket, pua kumbu, sewn together along the selvedges of 2 narrower pieces. Each is decorated with a warp ikat design in cream, brown with blue detailing on a reddish brown ground. The design includes motifs suggestive of anthropomorphic creatures with two rows of teeth and eyes in the face. A row of 'aso' figures at one end. the pattern is not symmetrical about the horizontal axis.At each side of the blanket are solidly coloured faded black, cream and red stripes. The ends of the warp are cut to form a short fringe. Natural dyes.
