Karna, oboe with a conical wooden upper body with eight fingerholes and one thumbhole. The wood is lapped with cloth and thread where it fits into the socket of the lower body. There is a tube of brass made of sections of differement diameters which flares to a brass bell with a tabbed and nailed seam. The brass staple is lapped with felt and thread and has an integral pirouette. Part of the double reed remains on the staple. Photos showing a similar karna in performance, together with a dohol drum similar to 2012.154, were taken by the collector, Alec MacLeod, and are described in MIMSY record number ARC/HMG/CM/007/A/MCLEODALEC.
