The Horniman Museum will be closed from 24-26 December. The Horniman Gardens will be closed 25 December only.
Lid of a double-sided basket. Formed of two concave bases of twill-woven rattan each bound to a length of bamboo forming the wall and a circle of wood forming the foot, each set into the other so that for either half the base can form a lid. Used for transporting or serving cooked rice.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
