axe (weapons: edged)

Axe, wooden shaft with a curved wrought triangualar iron blade. The blade is attached to the shaft by a tang through the bulbous end which curves back into the wood; the other end of the shaft bears a large circular nodule. The tang has 8 sides. Shaft is decorated with brass studs covering the haft, except for the grip, which is covered with brass and iron wire. The blade's tang is further secured by a large rivet or screw through the wood. Piece of vegetable fibre tied around bottom of tang.
