Netsuke in the form of a wooden study of a mask. The mask is an oto, a woman, smiling. Apertures in eyes and mouth. Five small ivory beads are inlaid in her hachimaki (headband). On the reverse is a small rectangle of ivory inscribed with two characters, probably the name of the maker. The second character is 'min'. 52 x 47 x 29 mm.
