Half pint milk can from a horse drawn milk float. A vessel of oval cross section with hinged lid, handle and hook. It is made of iron and the interior is nickel-silvered on a galvanised base. The hinge hook and handle are made of brass. It is inscribed on the hinge with 'THE / MILK STANDARD / CAN / TRADEMARK', on the lid 'F. G. STENNING', and on the side "53 / OLD DOVER / RD' and 'DAIRY & CO LIMITED MAKERS, KINGS + LONDON N.'
