collar (clothing: outerwear); textile

An embroidered textile made in two sections, in the shape of a collar. The linen tabby woven ground is embroidered all over with a large diamond lattice pattern, using mainly black, white and red cotton yarns. Green and blue silk threads are also used. All edges have been turned and there are loose black threads, suggesting it was once sewn onto an outer garment.
