dish (food service)

A rectangular wooden food dish, the long sides of which curve down in the centre and the short sides curve up in the centre. It is decorated with relief carving forming a zoomorphic face at either end and grooved decoration on the adjoining sides. The top has a rim which is decorated with inlaid shells, one is detached and missing. There is a shiny residue inside the bowl.
